BAU, May 25: If you’re having a hard time finding yourself a partner, try a love potion from the Sarawak-Kalimantan border bazaar at Serikin during the weekend.
‘Bulu perindu’ (hair of longing), or known as ‘whispering hair’ is a mystical and cultural item from Indonesia, often associated with traditional magic and love spells.
The fine, black or sometimes brown strand resembling animal hair is kept in a tiny bottle filled with clumps of oil.
Stall owner Eja, a 33-year-old man with a Sarawak Iban father and Indonesian Dayak mother, said the ‘bulu perindu’ he was selling was harvested from an eagle’s nest.
“To use it, apply some of the oil to your eyebrows before leaving home,” he told DayakDaily today.
According to the user manual that comes with the bottle, both men and women who have been exposed to this oil would not be able to resist the longing of the person who applied it.
It is also said to boost confidence, improve one’s career and business prospects, enhance farming yields, aid in debt collection, and more.
At the Serikin Weekend Market, there are a dozen stalls selling these oddities, including sacred peanuts and golden needles. — DayakDaily
