GRS coalition wins Sabah state election

KOTA KINABALU, Sept 26: A coalition of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) which made up of Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) is believed to have won the Sabah state election defeating Warisan Plus.

According to national daily The Star, GRS has won with a simple majority of 37 seats against Warisan Plus’ 25 seats based on unofficial results as at 8.52 pm while four seats went to independents.

A total of 73 seats were being contested with 37 seats needed for a simple majority.

Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin declared that GRS has won the simple majority of 37 seats to form the next state government.

“GRS is in the midst of discussing its direction and other problems.

“We promise that this government will be transparent and the people’s welfare is taken care of,” he told a press conference here. —DayakDaily
