KUCHING, Nov 3: Dato Sri Nancy Shukri is finally going home after she was announced as the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate for P193 Santubong in the 15th General Election (GE15).
The three-term representative for Batang Sadong since the 2008 General Election will switch to contest in the Santubong seat this time.
“I want to thank the GPS chairman (Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg) for this opportunity and my predecessor (Dato Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar) who has been doing a great job in Santubong.
“And now it is a big task for me to carry out the same duties in the new parliamentary seat even though that area is my ‘kawasan asal’ (hometown),” she told the press after Abang Johoari announced the GPS candidates for GE15 at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters here today.
However, Nancy revealed that despite the fact that Santubong is her hometown, she is a new candidate to represent the area.
She also hoped that Wan Junaidi will return to contribute to the area especially, during the campaigning period. — DayakDaily
