KUCHING, Oct 9: Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) has committed to driving rural development with 372 approved projects as part of the first phase since its establishment on Sept 29, 2022.
According to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report, Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development (MEITD), Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, stated that these projects cover all nine Sarawak constituencies, from Opar to Balai Ringin.
“As of Oct 2024, 201 projects have been allocated for Kuching Division and 171 for Serian Division,” he stated during the GKCDA Project Completion and Handover Ceremony in Tebedu, Serian, today.
He added that Bukit Semuja constituency alone will see the implementation of 47 different projects, amounting to a total of RM152 million.
Among the completed projects are two crucial water supply extension initiatives for Kampung Sorak and Kampung Belimbing A, costing RM182,695 and RM163,250 respectively.
Providing an update on project status, Sagah, who is also Tarat assemblyman, noted that six projects have been completed, 48 have been tendered to contractors, 34 are in the tendering stage, and 282 are still in planning and documentation stages.
Also present at the event were Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada, Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh, Serian Division Resident Caroline Cleophas Joseph, GKCDA special administrative officer Datu Ik Pahon Joyik, and political secretaries to the Premier of Sarawak, John Nyigor and Damian Rejek, alongside other distinguished guests. — DayakDaily
