KUCHING, Sept 24: A total of 78 contingents involving 3,100 participants will take part in the grand parade on Oct 12, commemorating the 78th birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
According to a TVS news report, Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts (MTCP), Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, stated that the parade is the highlight of seven events scheduled for Oct 10 to Oct 13 in Kuching.
He also mentioned that the state award investiture ceremony will be held on the same day after the parade concludes.
“On Oct 13, there will be a special tea reception where orphans and the underprivileged will be invited, and Tun Wan Junaidi will present contributions to them,” he added.
Abdul Karim stated this at a media briefing after paying a courtesy visit to Tun Wan Junaidi at the Astana Negeri Sarawak here earlier today.
Among the other notable events planned are a thanksgiving ceremony, a special sermon, a thanksgiving ceremony for other religions, a grand parade, the state award investiture ceremony, a state banquet, and the tea reception.
This celebration marks Tun Wan Junaidi’s first official birthday celebration as the Yang di-Pertua Negeri, after assuming the role on Jan 26, 2024, for a four-year term ending on Jan 26, 2028. — DayakDaily
