KUCHING, Dec 12: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Wilfred Yap Yau Sin will be setting up a fully-functional service centre equipped with office ‘incubator’ for public use, should he be elected as the people’s representative for Kota Sentosa.
The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party Public Complaints Bureau (SUPP PCB) chief said the incubator would not be huge, but it would have all the basic facilities for studying or office use such as computers, printers, and Wi-Fi.
“Anybody who needs these facilities are welcome, especially the B40 groups in Kota Sentosa. The poorer families can always send their children there if they require certain computer facilities.
“It’s not going to be a big space, probably just a 10 by 10 feet room, but it’s going to be accessible to the constituency.
“So, that will be the first thing I do if I do get elected,” he said when talking about achievable developments in Kota Sentosa in the short-term.
As a firm believer in education, Yap said education is the best mode to lift up people from poverty, thus his emphasis on providing for the underprivileged.
One of his catchphrases is this: “We can be poor, but we should never be poor in education.”
For the longer term, Yap has also drafted missions in his election manifesto emphasising that he would speak out and strive in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) to create new education opportunities for Sarawakians.
Among related changes that he would like to bring forth for the people is free school bus services for children of single mothers attending kindergarten and a special schooling allowance of RM100 per child of single mothers.
Yap, who is also SUPP Kota Sentosa branch chairman, pledged to also enhance people’s wellbeing, spur Sarawak’s economy, improve access to affordable housing, and implement infrastructure development. — DayakDaily
