KUCHING, July 6: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has clarified that no potential candidates have been decided for the upcoming Sarawak State Election, following recent social media postings naming certain individuals as purported candidates.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Information chief and GPS spokesman Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the circulation of such claims has caused confusion among party leadership and supporters, stressing that the individuals named have not been endorsed by the coalition.

Abdul Karim further said that the clarification was necessary to avoid misunderstanding, reiterating that any so-called proposed candidates circulating online are not official or recognised by the coalition.

However, the coalition said it appreciates the public attention generated by the postings, viewing them as a form of support towards GPS.

“GPS views this clarification as necessary to avoid confusion among party leadership and supporters as these so-called proposed candidates are not endorsed by GPS.

“However, GPS has expressed its appreciation to these postings which it considers as signs of support to GPS,” he added. — DayakDaily
