SERIAN, Nov 20: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) component parties in Mambong should put aside any differences to face the coming election.

In making the call, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Mambong branch acting chief Datuk Detta Samen said the differences would only affect the GPS candidate in the area.

“We have done all the necessary preparations to face the Opposition in the coming election, to show to them what we (GPS) have done in the area.

“But what I fear the most is that there may be some of the component parties that are apparently with us, but are doing different things behind the scene.

“I hope that any differences can be set aside and we can work together to ensure the seat (Mambong) remains with GPS,” Detta said at the closing ceremony of a community leaders management seminar here today.

“Everyone wants to be a candidate. I also want to be the candidate (for Mambong). But because I am not the chosen one, I have to work with the GPS candidate to ensure GPS is given the mandate,” Detta said.

Meanwhile, Detta said Mambong incumbent Datuk Dr Jerip Susil has brought tremendous development to the area.

“No doubt Mambong has enjoyed development under GPS. But there is still plenty to be done, so it will be a great loss if Mambong is to fall under the Opposition.”
