GPS leaders united on need for strong govt to support Covid-19 vaccination efforts in audience with King

KUCHING, June 14: Leaders of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition support chairman Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on the need to have a strong and stable government to ensure the Covid-19 vaccination programme and implementation are well-grounded.

During an audience today with Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Riā€™ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah which was held via video conference, GPS leaders also stood by Abang Johari on the importance of accelerating the vaccination programme and completing it by August in order for the State to achieve herd immunity.


They also discussed the implementation of a post-Covid-19 Economic Exit Plan.

ā€œWe as chairmen of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United Peoplesā€™ Party (SUPP) and Proggressive Democratic Party (PDP) fully agree with the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, chairman of GPS on the three crucial factors in the fight against Covid-19 and the conduct of the economy that was presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong during the session,ā€ the statement said.

The statement was signed by PRS president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing, SUPP president Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian and PDP president Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.

On June 9, GPS leaders received an invitation for an audience with His Majesty on June 14.

The Chief Ministerā€™s Office in a statement said on June 9 that an Istana Negara official contacted the office to extend the invitation from the King. ā€” DayakDaily
