KUCHING, Aug 7: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is holding a special closed-door meeting at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters (HQ) here today.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also PBB president, arrived at PBB HQ at 2.25pm to chair the meeting that was scheduled to start at 2.30pm.

The meeting was attended by leaders of the four component parties of GPS, namely PBB, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).

SUPP president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian as well as GPS MPs, namely Senior Minister of Works Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi were among the leaders seen entering the meeting room.

It is speculated that the meeting was called after Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Wednesday (Aug 4) announced that he will put himself through a vote of confidence when Parliament convenes in September to prove the legitimacy of his leadership and the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.— DayakDaily
