KUCHING, Nov 26: The government has been implementing and launching projects under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) year-round and not just during election season, said Assistant Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.
Hence, he said it was wrong to claim that such projects were political tools of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
“When we talk about RTP, which is the brainchild of the late Chief Minister Pehin Sri Adenan Satem, it was continuously carried out with the objective of bringing development to rural areas and implemented throughout the year.
“So it has never been a political tool of the GPS government,” Dr Jerip said at the handing over of RTP project funds to upgrade Kampung Taba Sait at the Bengoh Resettlement Scheme (BRS) today. The RM100,000 project will take three months to complete.
He added that he has been officiating at RTP project launchings over the years — not only during election.
Therefore, he urged voters to give GPS a new mandate in the upcoming election to continue enjoying development that can transform rural areas.
“Our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has done many things to transform Sarawak, this is why it is important to give GPS a new mandate,” Dr Jerip pointed out.
Present at the event was Sarawak Administrative Officer (SAO) from Padawan sub-district office, Julius Scott Sapong and community leaders from nearby villages. — DayakDaily
