KUCHING, July 16: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has given the ‘green light’ on the collaboration between one of its component parties, the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), and a local opposition party, Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
Its chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, said that the collaboration does not consider PSB as a member of GPS.
“If someone (PSB) wants to help, we accept it, and that is our stand.
“The most important thing, again, is that Sarawak is known to have strong unity. That is why GPS’ position is that (we accept) if people want to help us and subscribe to our policy,” he told reporters after chairing the GPS Presidential Council Meeting at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here last night (July 15).
GPS comprises four component parties, namely Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and PDP.
Last Thursday (July 13), PDP signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PSB in Kuala Lumpur for a collaboration. PDP was represented by its president Dato Seri Tiong King Sing, while PSB was represented by its president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.
The MoU signing ceremony was also attended by PDP vice president Datuk Henry Harry Jinep and PSB deputy president Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa. — DayakDaily
