GPS flag rally across Sarawak ends on high note

SAMARAHAN, Jan 18: The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Flag Rally Convoy just ended its adventurous nine-day journey on a high-note today as it reached its final stop at Kota Samarahan Civic Centre here.

Traveling from north to south of Sarawak, the convoy kept the spirit of GPS alive and burning as it introducing the coalition’s new hornbill logo and anthem.

The convoy was headed by Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu and participated by some 60 members of the Youth and Women Wings from four component parties namely PBB, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).


They covered 21 areas along the journey which began from Lawas on Jan 10 to Limbang, Miri, Bekenu, Bintulu, Mukah, Selangau, Sibu, Kanowit, Kapit, Sarikei, Betong, Sri Aman, Balai Ringin, Serian, Siburan, Bau, Lundu, Batu Kawa, Sadong Jaya and Samarahan.

Kota Samarahan member of Parliament (MP) Rubiah Wang called on the Samarahan community to give their full support to GPS and work on protecting Sarawak together just as they would the endangered hornbill.

“This is a new start for the GPS team as we will continue with this high spirit to tell and show our people especially in the rural areas that GPS is genuine, serious, and committed in fighting for Sarawak,” she said.

“We must also support our ‘apai’ (father) Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, the captain of this new ship, so that Sarawak rights can be fully taken back and safeguarded,” she added.

The Flag Rally programme will wrap up with the official launching of GPS by Abang Johari tomorrow (Jan 19) at Stadium Perpaduan in Petra Jaya.

Preparations are going smoothly for the grand event in which 8,000 members and supporters are expected to attend. — DayakDaily
