KUCHING, Dec 1: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is expecting four of its MPs to be appointed as full ministers.

According to its chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, there are most likely four MPs from GPS who will be appointed as full ministers in the new unity government cabinet as it has been the request of GPS to retain four ministers in the Federal Cabinet.

“Most likely we will retain the number, the previous number. Last time, we had four including (Datuk Seri) Wan Junaidi (Tuanku Jaafar),” said Abang Johari when met by the media after today’s State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting.

In the last Federal Cabinet, there were four MPs appointed as full ministers namely Works Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Tourism, Art and Culture Minister Dato Sri Nancy Shukri and De-facto Law Minister Wan Junaidi.

When pressed who would be replacing Wan Junaidi as a full minister, Abang Johari said he would not know because the appointment of Federal ministers was the prerogative of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

It has been speculated that Fadillah will be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister while other Sarawak MPs who will be appointed remain to be Nanta, Nancy and former Deputy Health Minister Aaron Ago Dagang. — DayakDaily
