KUCHING, March 27: Some 4,666 delegates are expected to attend the upcoming Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Convention 2026, scheduled to take place on April 19 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
GPS secretary-general and Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said preparations for the convention are well underway, with detailed coordination efforts being carried out to ensure the event proceeds smoothly, in an orderly manner, and achieves its intended objectives.
“To date, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) will contribute the largest number of delegates at 1,466, followed by Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) with 1,020 participants, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) with 1,130, and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) with 1,050,” he said in a post shared on his social media today.
The matter was discussed during the Third Meeting of the GPS Convention 2026 Coordination Committee, which was held at the PBB headquarters along Jalan Bako here yesterday (March 26).
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also PBB deputy president.
According to Nanta, discussions at the meeting centred on ensuring meticulous planning and full preparedness for the convention, which is expected to gather thousands of party members from across Sarawak.
“With the spirit of ‘Utamakan Sarawak’ (Sarawak First), we hope this convention, after several years of not being held, will unite members in a harmonious setting as we work towards our shared goal of ensuring Sarawak continues to progress and prosper,” he said.
This will be the second GPS Convention since the launch of GPS in 2019. — DayakDaily
