KUCHING, July 13: Chairman of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been informed of the collaboration between Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), a member of GPS and a local Opposition party, Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
This is according to PDP president Dato Sri Tiong King Sing when met by the media after Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony for the collaboration between PDP and PSB held at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur today.
Denying that this was a sudden move, Tiong said the matter has been discussed between the two parties for more than a year.
When asked if PSB will be absorbed into PDP, Tiong did not deny the news, but explained that the process will take time.
“Bukan hari ini saja kahwin. Bertunang dulu. Perlahan perlahan. Mahu kahwin belakang baru cerita. (We don’t simply get married today. Engagement first. Slowly, slowly. If we want to get married, we will talk later),” said Tiong.
On the question of what was the response of Abang Johari towards this latest development, Tiong said the former had given his acknowledgement.
“He (Abang Johari) is okay. We work together for the sake of Sarawak. We want Sarawak government to be strong. We want everyone to contribute constructively to move Sarawak forward, to give enhanced value,” said Tiong.
Tiong who is also Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister, did not elaborate further on the terms of collaboration. — DayakDaily
