KUCHING, Jan 5: The e-invoicing transition period for companies with annual sales of RM1 million to RM5 million will be extended by a year, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The New Straits Times reported Anwar as saying that some companies remain unprepared due to the high cost of preparation during his special monthly address at the Prime Minister’s Department.

The requirement, originally set to take effect on Jan 1, 2026, will now be implemented without penalties.

Businesses with annual revenue below RM1 million are already exempt from e-invoicing.

Previously, the Inland Revenue Board had deferred the requirement for mid-sized companies from July 1, 2025, to Jan 1, 2026, to allow more time for preparation.

The government will continue to monitor the programme to ensure a smooth rollout with minimal disruption to businesses. — DayakDaily
