KUCHING, Oct 1: The federal government has agreed to consider extending subsidised fuel prices to boat operators, particularly in Sabah and Sarawak, under the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) initiative.

In a TVS news report, senior press secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah said the government is working closely with relevant agencies, as well as the Sabah and Sarawak governments, to compile data on boat owners to ensure they are not excluded from receiving the benefits of BUDI95.

“The Madani government extends its deepest appreciation and thanks to all BUDI95 recipients who have embraced and benefited from this initiative.

“Every litre holds immense value for Malaysians, and this is the government’s way of ensuring the people are always protected,” he said during the Prime Minister’s Office briefing, which was broadcast live on Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s official Facebook page on Tuesday (Sept 30).

As of 7pm on Sept 29, nearly 912,000 Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients, together with members of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), had made BUDI95 transactions at petrol stations nationwide.

“So far, purchases worth RM43.7 million, covering 21.8 million litres of RON95 petrol, have been recorded under the BUDI95 initiative. Starting midnight on Sept 30, 2025, the programme has been expanded to cover all 16 million eligible Malaysians,” he added.

The government has also set the unsubsidised retail price of RON95 at RM2.60 per litre for October 2025. However, BUDI95 recipients will continue to enjoy the subsidised rate of RM1.99 per litre.

“This means Malaysians are receiving a subsidy benefit of 61 sen for every litre of petrol,” he said. — DayakDaily
