KUCHING, Oct 12: Wife of the Head of State Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi and the father of Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leonard Linggi Jugah, head the list of 1,046 distinguished recipients who will receive Sarawak awards and medals, in an investiture ceremony to be held at the Astana Negeri Sarawak today.
Both Fauziah and Linggi are conferred the State’s second highest award – Datuk Patinggi Bintang Kenyalang (D.P.), which carries the title of “Datuk Patinggi”, in the ceremony held in conjunction with the 78th birthday celebration of the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
Receiving the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title “Dato Sri”, were Deputy Sarawak Secretary Datuk Dr Muhamad Abdullah Zaidel, Chief Judge of Sarawak and Sabah Tan Sri Datuk Abdul Rahman Sebli, Sarawak Attorney General Datu Saferi Ali and paramount chief of the Malay community in Sibu Temenggong Datuk Wan Hamid Adruce Tuanku Mohammad.
Three outstanding individuals awarded the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK), which carries the title “Datuk”, were Federal Deputy Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister, who is also Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii, Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) chief executive officer Datu Ismawi Ismuni and senior private secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Dato Khir Busra.
Among the 12 individuals who are awarded with Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS), which carries the title “Datu”, were four permanent secretaries and three Residents.
They included permanent secretary to the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Elizabeth Loh, permanent secretary to Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Abang Ahmad Abang Morni, permanent secretary to the Ministry of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Sirai Daha, and permanent secretary to the Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications Jafri Lias.
The three Residents are Mukah Resident Kueh Lei Poh, Sarikei Resident Michael Ronnie Langgong and Bintulu Resident Nyurak Keti.
The remaining five DJBS recipients are Protocol, Ceremony and Event Management Unit director Hamdan Sharbini, Head of Native Court Jonathan Lugoh, Natural Resources and Environmental Board (NREB) Controller Jack Liam, Yayasan Sarawak director Mersal Abang Rosli and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) Prof Dr Neilson Ilan Mersat.
Meanwhile, Tupong assemblyman and chief political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Fazzurudin Abdul Rahman will lead 17 others as recipients of the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS), which carries the title “Dato”.
Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir and Betong MP Dr Richard Rapu are among the assemblymen receiving the title.
Others in the list are Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) Mayor Hilmy Othman, press secretary to the Premier of Sarawak Ambrose Cheng Loi Hee, Brigadier General Kamarulzaman Mohd Yunos and Royal Malaysia Police Narcotic Investigation Unit chief Datuk Seri Khaw Kok Chin, businessman Abang Abdillah Izzarim, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian’s wife Enn Ong Siok Ean, prominent private medical practitioner Dr Julian Wee Kam Siak and Senari Group managing director Jefri Ahmad Tambi.
Also included in the list are prominent lawyer Shankar Ram Asnani, Petroleum Sarawak Berhad’s (Petros) Senior Vice-President (Corporate Strategy) Abang Arabi Abang Narudin, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) general manager Sudarnoto Osman, Catholic Archbishop of Kuching Archdiocese Dr Simon Poh Hoon Seng, businesswoman Jacqueline Fong Yean Yee, Court of Appeal judge Dato Lee Heng Cheong and Su’ut Johari.
Of the rest of 1,046 recipients, three were awarded Johan Bintang Sarawak (JBS), Johan Bintang Kenyalang or JBK (1), Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang or PPC (20), Pegawai Bintang Sarawak or PBS (15), Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang or PBK (98), Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti or PPB (143), Ahli Bintang Sarawak or ABS (76), Ahli Bintang Kenyalang or ABK (198), Pingkat Perkhidmatan Terpuji or PPT (194) and Bentara Bintang Sarawak or BBS (259). — DayakDaily
