KANOWIT, Oct 21: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to announce some ‘goodies’ for farmers and breeders in the Machan constituency tomorrow (Oct 22).

Abang Johari is scheduled to open the RM4 million new Agriculture Office for Nanga Machan located near Nanga Machan Bazaar in the afternoon.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas revealed that the new office block built on a 1.2 hectare site was among several new offices of the Agriculture Department in rural areas in Sarawak.

“The Agriculture Department is now stepping up efforts to modernise the state agriculture sector by emphasising on its extension programmes,” he said in a media release after a visit to the new office today in Nanga Machan to oversee the preparations for its opening.

Uggah, who is also the Minister of Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development (Manred), added that they were pushing for new programmes and activities to help farmers and breeders generate more income.
