MIRI, Nov 11: The Gong Xi Fa Cai Bazaar is set to make a return next year at the Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI) compound from Jan 14 to 21, with some 300 stalls to be featured.

According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the organiser is now working on the decorations at the bazaar to create the Chinese New Year festive atmosphere.

“Most of the stalls have been opened at this time and now the organisers are working on the decorations to create a festive mood around the bazaar.

“Decorations will also be put up along the High Street in Miri city centre. This is so that the public and visitors who come to Miri will be able to enjoy the Chinese New Year celebration,” he said when met after the MCCCI meeting on Thursday (Nov 10).

Lee, who is also Senadin assemblyman, said he wants to make sure that the upcoming Chinese New Year bazaar is a successful and vibrant one to entice more people to visit Miri city.

Deputy Minister of Tourism Datuk Sebastian Ting, Miri Mayor Adam Yii, MCCCI chairman Ling Chiong Sing and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Miri candidate Jeffrey Phang were also present. ā€” DayakDaily
