GLCs urged to play proactive role through CSR to assist the people

KUCHING, Apr 2: Government-linked companies (GLCs) have been urged to play a proactive role in setting good examples to other companies in conducting corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in assisting the people to combat the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said GLCs have played pivotal roles in assisting the federal government to draft a comprehensive economic strategy during the movement control order (MCO) period.


“I have requested GLCs to play a more proactive role and also set a good example to other companies or industry to conduct CSR to help the people who are facing difficulties during the MCO period,” he said in his social media post on Facebook.

Earlier Muhyiddin, who is Khazanah Nasional Bhd (Khazanah) chairman, and Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz had a video conferencing with the chief executive of GLCs namely the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Permodalan Nasional Bhd, The Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT), Retirement Fund Incorporated (KWAP) and Tabung Haji at the prime minister’s office in Putrajaya today.

They had a meeting to discuss issues which are affecting the country’s economy.

Meanwhile, EPF was represented by its CEO Tunku Alizakri Raja Alias, PNB by its CEO Jalil Rasheed and Khazanah by its managing director Datuk Shahril Ridzuan.

Also joining the video conferencing were KWAP’s CEO Syed Hamadah Syed Othman, LTAT CEO Nik Amlizan Mohamed and Tabung Haji CEO Datuk Nik Mohd Hasyudeen. —DayakDaily
