Give detailed info before rolling out Covid-19 related measures, SDMC told

Julian Tan

KUCHING, April 1:  DAP Sarawak urges Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) to have a well-coordinated plan before rolling out any Covid-19 related measures.

Julian Tan, a special assistant to Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chief Chong Chieng Jen said on March 27, 2021, SDMC announced that all employers from service, hotel, construction, manufacturing, and plantation sectors have to submit their workers’ name list to the nearest divisional Resident Office before April 12.

“It did not elaborate on how to go about it or other alternatives, which can help ease registering workers by the employers.

“Given the short time frame from the day of the announcement, many affected business owners do not know how to go about it.  Some have tried to reach out to both SDMC and the Resident Office via hotline but to no avail,” said Tan in a press statement today.

He said it was only yesterday that the Resident Office announced through their website that affected business sectors can register their workers via MySejahtera apps, through www.vaksincovid.gov.my, or manually at government clinics.

Employers can also download available Excel sheet via their website and send via email. Detailed information can be obtained at https://kuching.sarawak.gov.my/ by clicking on the announcement section.

Tan, who is former Stampin MP, said comprehensive information for the time-sensitive registration such as the abovementioned should be readily available even on the first day of making the announcement.

“Key official websites should also highlight such time-sensitive events that are not easy to be missed.

“Website visitors should be able to obtain further information within ‘1-click’, that’s user-friendliness. Not many are tech-savvy. With many still subject to Covid-19 related challenges, the government should strive to provide fast and seamless service,” said Tan.  — DayakDaily
