Gerawat Gala elected first chairman of newly-formed Saberkas Mulu branch

KUCHING, March 24: Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration, and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala, has been appointed the first chairman of the newly-formed Mulu branch of Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas).

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Gerawat, who is also Mulu assemblyman, was elected to the position during the branch’s annual general meeting (AGM) at a hotel in Miri on Saturday (March 23).


Gerawat stated that the establishment of Saberkas in the Mulu State constituency was eagerly anticipated by local youths.

He also emphasised the role of Saberkas in shaping young people and preparing them to be future leaders.

“It will also help identify the talents of young individuals based on their strengths and foster stronger connections among young people in the Mulu constituency,” he was quoted as saying in the news report.

Ukas further reported that Saberkas Mulu is the 82nd Saberkas branch in Sarawak.

Also present were Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Mulu deputy chairman Datuk Robert Laing Anyi; PBB Women Mulu deputy head Datin Catherine Awing; PBB Youth Mulu head Osart Bilong; Saberkas Sarawak executive secretary Iszuan Haroni; and Saberkas committee members. — DayakDaily
