Key projects include the dual carriageway linking Gedong with Serian and Samarahan designed to also support future Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART); the Gedong Mini Isthmus project which will integrate modern health, education and commercial facilities; the RM15 million redevelopment of the Gedong Waterfront embankment to counter riverbank erosion; and large-scale modern paddy farming initiatives aimed at strengthening food security and raising household incomes.

“In the next five to ten years, Gedong will undergo a major transformation.

“That is why our youths and younger generation must equip themselves with knowledge, skills, discipline and entrepreneurial spirit to seize the opportunities arising from the development being planned,” she said during the closing ceremony of the Gedong District-level Maulidur Rasul 1447H/2025M celebration today.

She also highlighted the need to address social challenges such as drug abuse, moral decline and misuse of technology, urging young people to stay resilient.

Earlier, she praised the uniqueness of Gedong’s Maulidur Rasul celebration, which featured a 5km procession involving nearly 700 participants, traditional community feasts at 10 stops along the route, and the district’s hallmark gateway competition participated by 11 villages.

“This is the third year Gedong has held Maulidur Rasul since it was gazetted as a district. The strong turnout reflects the community’s commitment and unity,” she added.

She expressed hope that Gedong will continue to embody the theme “Ummah Maju Makmur” (Progressive and Prosperous Ummah) by becoming a model district with a prosperous, progressive and united society. – DayakDaily
