KUCHING, April 17: The Gawai Dayak festival at the Lundu District level this year is scheduled to take place on May 22.
According to a news report from the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang explained that the early celebration will enhance the sense of multiracial unity in Lundu and Sematan districts.
Ukas reported that the decision was reached during the first meeting of the Lundu District level Gawai Dayak celebration on Monday (April 15).
The meeting reached a unanimous decision to include two segments in the programme: the Lundu District Gawai Dayak Parade and the 2024 Lundu District Gawai Dayak Dinner.
Among the objectives of organising the programme is to promote cultural diversity in the district.
Also present at the meeting was the acting Lundu District officer, Zulkipli Morshidi. — DayakDaily
