SIBU, May 27: Eight types of goods have been placed under the maximum price scheme for Gawai Dayak 2024 for the Sibu Division.
Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Sibu Branch chief Kelyn Bolhassan @ Haliward said in a statement that the scheme will be implemented for seven days from May 29 to June 4.
The identified items are live chickens, chicken wings, imported garlic (China), imported round cabbage (Indonesia and China, excluding Beijing), curly dried chilis, live pigs (farm only), and pork (belly and meat and fat).
He warned that any traders found raising the price of these items would be dealt with under Section 21 of the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.
Individuals found guilty can be fined by the court up to RM100,000 or jailed for not more than three years, or both, or compounded up to RM50,000.
Companies, he explained, can be fined up to RM500,000 or compounded up to RM250,000. — DayakDaily
