BINTULU, June 2: A massive fire ravaged 43-door Rumah Ugop Umpin in Kampung Binyu along Jalan Sebauh after midnight today, amidst the beginning of the Gawai Dayak celebration.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to the emergency at 12.41am and a team of firefighters was mobilised to the scene, located approximately 142km away.

Access to the remote longhouse is limited to 4WD vehicles via plantation roads, with the journey estimated to take three hours.

Initial footage shared revealed severe devastation, with the longhouse interior completely consumed by flames.
