KUCHING, June 27: The Minister in the Premier’s Department Datuk John Sikie Tayai applauds the success of the Gawai Bazaar 2022, which generates more than RM800,000 in sales during its nine-day run.

According to Sikie, the bazaar’s success was very motivating for assisting State’s entrepreneurs in making money and boosting the economy.

“I’m happy to see that even on the last day of the event, the bazaar is still packed with people buying food and handicrafts from our local entrepreneurs.

“Throughout the nine days, the organising committee informed me that the bazaar’s total sales exceeded RM800,000.

“Perhaps on this last day of the bazaar, it (the sales) has already reached over RM1 million, so this is very good,” he told the media after officiating the closing of the Gawai Bazaar 2022 on Sunday night (June 26) at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) community hall compound.

Sikie, who is also Kakus assemblyman, hoped that the next Gawai Bazaar would be held throughout the month of the celebration, allowing people to come and enjoy themselves for a longer period of time.

Meanwhile, Gawai Bazaar 2022 organising committee member Daleton Nilie Nunong reported that the bazaar has grossed RM804,154.95 in nine days.

The bazaar, which ran from June 17 to June 26, featured a total of 129 stalls selling a variety of local foods and beverages as well as handicrafts. — DayakDaily
