LAWAS, June 30: Construction activities at a site in Kampung Dato Kuala Lawas were immediately halted after a gas leak was detected, prompting authorities to cordon off the area as a safety precaution.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Lawas received an emergency call at 11.21am and swiftly deployed a response team to the location.
Upon inspection, the officer in charge PBK 1 Abdul Naziem Abdul Aziz confirmed the presence of a gas leak at the construction site, with visible bubbling reported at the affected area.
A size-up was conducted upon arrival to assess the situation and potential risks.
As an immediate safety measure, the responding team established a 5-metre exclusion zone around the leak and instructed the contractor to cease all construction activities at the site to prevent any escalation or hazards.
Bomba Lawas said no casualties were reported in the incident, and monitoring is expected to continue as a precautionary measure. — DayakDaily
