KUCHING, March 1: A robotic dog made a notable appearance at the Playsmart Carnival science show at the Kuching Civic Centre today in celebration of Petrosains’ 25th anniversary.

The GO2 Pro Robo Dog, affectionately named ‘Awang Bubu’, captured the attention of both the young and old audience alike.

At the Petrosains/PlaySmart, the GO2 Pro Robo Dog is used to demonstrate the many capabilities of four-legged robots compared to wheeled-robots and to simulate similar uses of PETRONAS’ four-legged robot on offshore oil and gas platforms and chemical plants.

Science communicator Aizuddin emphasised that the robotic series is crucial in ensuring employee safety by handling high-risk tasks and highlighted that Awang Bubu is essentially a compact version of the original Robodog.

The Petrosains Playsmart carnival offers various science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related activities as well as free-to-attend workshops designed to spark interest and cultivate talents on a national scale.

As of today, the carnival is conducting a Robo Bug workshop led by another fellow science communicator, Awang Aiman, that took place simultaneously with a captivating science show handled by Aizuddin.

“Children will be provided with kits, and the hands-on activity makes it a more meaningful experience for them,” said Playsmart carnival volunteer Aisyah Suhiri.

Other organisations present at the carnival include the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and Jong’s Crocodile Farm to acquaint visitors with the flora and wildlife of Sarawak.

Entrance to the carnival is free and is scheduled for three consecutive days, commencing today and concluding on March 3, with operating hours between 9am and 5pm.

So, for those interested, buckle up and head to the Petrosains Playsmart Carnival for an unforgettable experience, as this opportunity is only available for a limited time. — DayakDaily
