KUCHING, Nov 28: The future of Sarawak must be made extraordinary”, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) deputy president, asserts today, as he charges the party’s young leaders to take ownership of the State’s destiny.
Addressing delegates at the SUPP Youth Section Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at its headquarters, Lee delivered a challenge: “The future is in our hands—let’s make it extraordinary.”
He issued a powerful call for the party’s youth wing to become future-ready by mastering technology and cultivating resilience.
“As young leaders, each of you holds incredible power: power to innovate, to inspire, and to transform our communities.
“In this fast-changing world, mastering technology is no longer optional; it is essential,” he said, according to the press statement.
However, Lee, who is also the Minister of Transport Sarawak (MOTS) cautioned that the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital tools must be balanced with ethical leadership.
“But remember, true leadership goes beyond tech skills. It’s about leading with heart, empathy, integrity, and responsibility.
We must use technology not just to advance ourselves, but to uplift everyone around us, maintaining the human connections that bind us,” said Lee.
Acknowledging the complex and unpredictable nature of the future, Lee identified resilience as a non-negotiable trait for success.

He explained that to succeed, resilience must be cultivated to adapt, recover, and grow stronger in the face of adversity.
“Resilience is not about bouncing back. It’s about moving forward with confidence despite uncertainty.”
He challenged the young leaders to embrace change and uncertainty, viewing the pace of innovation and shifting job landscapes not as a threat, but as an invitation to learn, innovate, and transform ourselves continuously.
Lee dedicated a significant portion of his address to reinforcing the importance of State-level progress, strongly endorsing the transformative initiatives of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Government under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He highlighted numerous major State achievements, including the acquisitions of the Bakun Hydro-Electric Project, Bintulu Port, and Affin Bank, alongside the establishment of Petros, Air Borneo, and the pioneering Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) system.
“These are not just projects; they are stepping stones to a brighter, greener, more dynamic future for all of us,” he added.
Lee, who also serves as SUPP Youth’s advisor, stressed that continuous political stability and unity are crucial for the success of the Sarawak Post Covid-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 19).
He called upon all SUPP youth to actively champion and reinforce our political stability and unity by giving unwavering support to Abang Johari, upholding the “Sarawak First” guiding principle. — DayakDaily
