KUCHING, March 12: Another 14 new Covid-19 cases were added to the funeral cluster of Emperoh Jambu in Kuching today, thus increasing the cluster’s total to 278.
A total of 1,400 individuals have been screened whereby 963 were negative and 159 were still awaiting for lab test results.
State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas reported that Emperoh Jambu was among five of 28 active clusters in Sarawak that recorded an increase in daily Covid-19 infections today.
Another funeral cluster of Gelong in Kapit picked up one new case today to push the cluster’s the total to 241.
A total of 288 individuals have been screened whereby 47 were negative while no results were pending.
The ‘cockfighting’ cluster of Jalan Muhibbah in Betong also recorded another three cases overnight, thus increased the cluster’s total to 290.
As of today, a total 2,700 individuals have been screened, whereby 2,333 were negative and 77 were still awaiting for lab tests.
Kiba Cluster in Sibu, which was linked to a longhouse in Ulu Durin Kiba after a 53-year-old woman tested positive from symptomatic screening, also recorded one case today to push the cluster’s total to 37.
A total of 96 individuals have been screened whereby 59 were negative while no results were pending.
The Bukit Tunggal Cluster in Julau, which emerged due to a gotong-royong paddy harvesting activity, registered three more cases today to push the cluster’s total to 43.
A total of 2,700 individuals have been screened whereby 2,333 were negative while 77 were still awaiting for test results.
Two longhouses in Nangga Lioh and Nangga Sebuntang have since been placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) for 14-days on March 1.
Sarawak also declared three new clusters today namely Jalan Main Bazaar in Sri Aman with 12 cases, Buluh Pasi in Meradong with 21 cases and Sena in Miri with 61 cases.
Of the 28 active clusters, 20 clusters did not report any new cases today. They were Melor in Pusa; Jalan Awang, Geronggang, Mas Merah, and Pasai in Sibu; Buloh in Selangau; Jalan Ho Pin and Univista in Samarahan; Sungai Bakong in Meradong; Jalan Green and Kampung Sungai Maong in Kuching; Kejatau and Sebangkoi in Sri Aman; Jan Yong in Kapit; Kidurong Dua and Jun Heng in Bintulu; Nanga Lijan in Julau; Seruas in Beluru; Tabong in Bau; Rakut in Miri as well as sub-cluster Tangap in Subis.
Meanwhile, Jalan Pengiran Cluster in Meradong has officially ended today with no new cases were recorded after the last case reported in Feb 11. The cluster was declared on Feb 1 with 10 positive cases including the index case. — DayakDaily
