KUCHING, July 1: Forty-five Covid-19 cases involving family members living in Kampung Siol Kandis, Petra Jaya here have been linked to a new Covid-19 cluster known as the Lorong 3 Kampung Siol Kandis Cluster which centers on a funeral ceremony.
According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily report, infections occurred during a funeral ceremony and prayers for the deceased on June 2 until June 4 and during a meeting among family members on June 12.
At present, a total of 123 individuals have been swabbed with 45 testing positive and 78 testing negative.
SDMC said the Covid-19 patients have been admitted to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in Kuching for isolation and treatment.
Meanwhile, the committee also disclosed the Jalan Haji Lampam Cluster in Miri has ended.
With this, there are 95 active Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak, of which 16 reported 125 new cases today. — DayakDaily
