KUCHING, April 19: Functional Fitness Competition (FFC) returns for its third year, inviting 80 participants from Sarawak, Sabah, West Malaysia, and Brunei to compete in a pair event that will be held on May 11 and 12.
According to the details released by FFC, the event’s goal is to showcase activities that relate to daily life while promoting and maintaining physical fitness, particularly to help prevent age-related accidents.
The inaugural day of the competition will unfold at Pandalela Rinong Aquatic Centre, Kuching, followed by the second day of the exhilarating events hosted at Sweat Factory Gym in La Promenade, Kota Samarahan. It will commence from 8.30am to 5pm.
This year’s FFC fitness event themed ‘Empowering women through functional fitness (CrossFit)’ will feature 40 pairs composed of either two women or one male and one female, ensuring that at least 75 per cent of the competition is represented by women.
Participants will be required to engage in three fitness events aimed at testing their overall fitness, completing six challenges lasting 15 to 30 minutes each.
Participants will be able to select from two categories: RX, which is tailored for advanced competitors meeting CrossFit’s internationally recognised standards, and Scaled, which is catered to beginners or intermediate-level participants.
Through this competition, the organising chairman of FFC, Alvin Yong, hopes to create awareness among the women’s community on the importance of training and maintaining physical fitness in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Entry is free for anyone who is interested to come and watch the competition. — DayakDaily
