From policeman to people’s rep, Wan Junaidi’s credentials justify appointment as TYT

Datuk Snowdan Lawan

KUCHING, Jan 28: Sarawakians had no reservations that Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar is the right man to shoulder the responsibility as the next Sarawak Governor (TYT), says Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan.

Even before the choice was officially made, he said there were already keen ‘murmurs in the ears’ amongst the populace that Wan Junaidi would almost be the closest and possible candidate for that appointment.

“Wan Junaidi’s credentials are there to justify him as a qualified one.

“His civil service performance from being a policeman and after that rose to legislative as a Member of Parliament (MP) for a few terms, and executive, as he held various federal ministerial posts, were testaments to his credibility.

“His vast and wide experience in the legal fraternity is a real advantage not only to the State but also to the nation. The last post he held as President of the Senate pinned it all,” Snowdan said in a statement today.

Snowdan, who is also Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief and Balai Ringin assemblyman, further said that Wan Junaidi’s long and outstanding service in the federal cabinet holding few important ministries are both tangible and intangible assets that will spearhead the State-federal relationship in years to come.

“In a nutshell, he had experienced it all, taking the rakyat’s (people) sentiments with him in every undertaking that he was assigned to.

“He has been the rakyat, civil servant, the lawmaker, and the executive. He had it all.

“Now, he will make a good stateman overseeing us as his subjects and shade us with a canopy. Trust him, he will deliver,” he added. — DayakDaily
