“This festival is not just about entertainment, but also about strengthening Kuching’s identity as the ‘City of Cats’ and enhancing its profile as an iconic tourism destination in Sarawak.

“At the same time, it contributes to local economic growth through the involvement of traders, pet industry players, and cultural performers,” he said at a press conference on Monday (Sept 22).

Among the main highlights is the World Cat Show, which will run throughout the festival, while the Cat Parade, featuring more than 75 cats, will take place on Sept 27 at 7pm along the Kuching Waterfront.

The festival is supported by the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, alongside non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and strategic industry partners.

The three-day celebration will also feature a vibrant line-up of side activities including the My Cat Expo with over 30 sales and exhibition booths, cat grooming demonstrations, a Cat Dance Competition, a Cat Fashion Show, and lively busker performances, promising a unique experience for both cat enthusiasts and visitors alike. — DayakDaily
