KUCHING, Feb 28: Democratic Action Party (DAP) Bandar Kuching Service Centre will collaborate with Brilliant Inspiration Academy to organise a free public forum on Covid-19 on March 1 at Vivacity Megamall from 1pm to 4pm.

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Yii in a statement said the forum aims to educate the public about Covid-19 and the preventive measures that needs to be taken.

He disclosed that the forum held will feature two medical experts, Dr Chew Kian Peng and Dr Loo Zia Yee.

Dr Yii said despite current political impasse, Sarawakians must remain vigilant in dealing with the threat of the virus which reportedly have hit 82,000 cases worldwide and killed 2,800 people.

In the meantime, Dr Yii welcomed the Financial Stimulus Package announced by interim prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad yesterday.

He said the stimulus package was to provide necessary resources to ensure Covid-19 disease is well managed especially in rewarding all the heroes who are putting their lives at risk daily to manage the virus. These include doctors, nurses, health workers, immigration officers and others.

Based on the package announced, Dr Yii said government doctors and other medical personnel directly involved in Covid-19 containment efforts will receive a special critical allowance of RM400 monthly from this month until the end of the outbreak while immigration officers will received an extra RM200 for the same period of time.

Dr Yii said Malaysia is one of the first country in the world to have an economic stimulus package to rejuvenate the economy slowdown caused by Covid-19.

“We are one of the first countries in the world to announce such a stimulus package and I am glad that a big focus of it is to reward all the faithful and committed civil servants who risk their lives on a daily basis to contain the disease. — DayakDaily
