Fraudulent housing scheme: Man loses RM21,500 after buying non-existent house on cemetery land

KUCHING, Sept 20: A man in his late 30s has fallen victim to a fraudulent housing scheme, causing him to lose a total of RM21,500.

According to Padawan District Police Chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, the man had on Dec 12, 2021 handed over RM1,500 in cash to a local man for buying a plot of land for constructing a house in a village at Jalan Matang here.

The government reserved land was actually intended for use as a cemetery, and he experienced another loss of RM20,000 which he paid as the estimated cost for the construction of the house on the said land.
