Four men rescued after chest-high floodwaters trap them on 4WD in Sepupok Niah

MIRI, Dec 9: Four men were successfully rescued by firefighters this morning after they became trapped atop a four-wheel-drive vehicle amid rising floodwaters along Jalan Penerangan, Sepupok Niah.

Fire and Rescue Station Batu Niah received a direct emergency call at 9.09am reporting that the victims were stranded as floodwaters continued to rise.

The four victims stranded atop their 4WD vehicle along Jalan Penerangan in Sepupok Niah, Miri safely transferred into a rescue boat on Dec 9, 2025.

According to Operations Commander PBK I Awang Azwan, the rescue team arrived to find all four men still stuck on the roof of their 4WD, with water levels reaching chest height.

Bomba team deployed a rescue boat to reach them safely. Firefighters then transferred all four victims into the rescue boat before navigating through the flooded area to bring them to safety.

All victims were unharmed and did not require medical attention. — DayakDaily
