KUCHING, Feb 4: Four individuals were arrested by the police near Taman Mutiara in Bau for alleged involvement in drugs.
According to Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon, the arrest was made by a team of Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) personnel from Bau district police (IPD Bau) at about 8.45 am. today after stopping a car that was driven in a suspicious manner.
“The four individuals, aged between 22 and 42-years old, try to make a run for it after being stopped, and upon inspection on the vehicle, police found two transparent plastic packets on the back seat, containing white-color crystallise substances weighing 2.22 gram, believed to be dangerous drug substances, with an estimated value of RM250.
“All four were later brought to NCID IPD Bau for an urine test, and all of them are found to be positive for Amphetamine and Methamphetamine,” he said.
Poge noted, a background check revealed that three of the individuals have previous crime records, and a remand order on them will be requested on Feb 5, 2021.
“The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or a maximum of five years’ jail, or both, upon conviction,” he added. – DayakDaily.
