KUCHING, April 8: Only the Supplementary Supply (2018) Bill, 2019, and Supplementary Supply Bill (2019) Bill, 2019, have been received so far for tabling in the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting that is scheduled to be held from April 29 to May 9.

DUN Secretary Semawi Mohamad told DayakDaily today that both these Bills would be tabled by the Minister of Finance.

As for the ‘Questions and Answers’ session, he said the deadline for submission from lawmakers is April 15.

“So, they still have ample time to send their questions before the sitting,” said Semawi.

When contacted, Deputy DUN Speaker Dato Gerawat Gala said there was no other Bill scheduled to be tabled, thus far.

Meanwhile, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Backbenchers Club chairman Paulus Palu Gumbang said the government backbenchers were ever ready to defend Sarawak’s rights against the onslaught of the opposition.

“We are always ready to defend our rights, especially those under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), and also on issues that are dear to Sarawakians,” he assured.

He added that the backbenchers would play by ear and would be ready if they were required to support any Motion tabled by the government at the eleventh hour.

The last DUN sitting was held on November 5-14, 2018.

On another matter, Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus chided the Pakatan Harapan government for tabling the “hollow and without substance” Bill to amend Article 1(2) of the Federal Constitution in Parliament

“How can they expect Sarawakians to support the Bill when there is nothing substantial?” he asked. — DayakDaily
