Former Telang Usan assemblyman Lihan Jok passes away at 66

KUCHING, Nov 16:Ā Former two-term Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Lihan Jok passed away today at 12.42pm due to kidney complications at Miri Hospital

Telang Usan assemblyman Datuk Dennis Ngau confirmed Lihan’s passing.

Dennis who is in the United Kingdom now, expressed his condolences to Lihan Jok’s family.


“We are from the same kampung (village)ā€”Long Bedian. Ā We are distant relatives,” Dennis told DayakDaily.

Lihan, a Kayan from Long Bedian, Ulu Sungai Apoh in Baram, was a very active social worker and a religious Christian, besides being the prime mover in getting all the Orang Ulu associations to be united under Federation of Orang Ulu Associations of Sarawak Malaysia (FORUM), of which he was the president.

Lihan also sat on the board of trustees of the Dayak Cultural Foundation and was a board member of Bau Oil Palm Mill.

He leaves behind his wife, Datin Freda Mujan Jok who is a Kayan from Long Aip, four children and six grandchildren.
