KUCHING, May 31: Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) former chairman Rebecca D’Cruz passed away on May 29 (Monday) due to an illness.
She was 59.
SSPCA president Datin Dona Drury Wee expressed her condolences on SSPCA’s social media page.
“Rebecca was my mentor, my pillar, my friend. She taught me all I know about managing animal welfare and stakeholder engagement.
“Together we worked on rabies issues, together we worked on the ground in 2017, probably the worst year of many of our lives,” said Dona Wee.
SSPCA acknowledged D’Cruz’s contributions and the vast knowledge and experience she brought to the table in her years as chairman from 2009 until 2022.
The association also expressed their deepest condolences to her family.
“Rebecca, you will be missed but you will always be remembered. Rest in peace, Rebecca,” the statement read.
A wake will be held starting from 4.30 pm of June 2 (Friday) until 11.30 am of June 3 (Saturday) at 18, Jalan Urat Mata, Tabuan Jaya, Kuching.
A Requiem Mass will be held at 1.00 pm on June 3 at St Joseph Cathedral, Kuching, followed by cremation at Nirvana. — DayakDaily
