Former PBK veep: Henry Sum Agong should be given full minister portfolio

KUCHING, Nov 27: Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong should be given a full minister portfolio in the Pakatan Harapan-led federal government, says Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) enemy-turned-friend Peter Asut.

The former vice president of Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK), who has changed ship to GPS, said this is taking into consideration that Henry Sum has held three deputy minister posts in the past, and he is also continuing his sixth term as an MP.

“At the same time, GPS is the third largest bloc, with 23 MPs contributing to the formation of the unity government mooted by the Agong.

“It is also our hope that a GPS appointed minister should be given the important portfolio such as Ministry of Works (MoW) and Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB) where Sarawak and Sabah still need more development,” he said in a statement today.

Peter also hopes that Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is the GPS chairman, will give due consideration to recommend Henry Sum as he also represented the northern part of Sarawak bordering nearby Sabah to bring more developments to the two regions in Borneo.

“It is timely for Sarawak and Sabah to be given an important portfolio under the PH unity government led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he added. — DayakDaily
