Former PBK Stampin candidate Lue Cheng Hing quits party

KUCHING, Feb 17: Lue Cheng Hing, who was Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s (PBK) pick for Stampin in the 15th General Election (GE15), has announced today that he has left the party.

Announcing his departure from the party in a statement today, Lue said he decided to resign after realising that PBK is no longer a suitable platform for his political career.

The retired software engineer also contested the Sentosa seat during the 12th Sarawak Election in 2021 under the PBK banner.

“I have to thank all my supporters wholeheartedly for their support during the 2021 Sarawak Election and GE15,” he said.

With a heart for Sarawak’s rights, Lue urged Sarawakians to continue to put pressure on Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), especially on efforts to enable Sarawak to achieve autonomy in education, healthcare and other eroded rights.

“The last incident when the courageous PBK leaders were arrested and detained for speaking out loud and clear against Islamisation of Sarawak, which news went viral, proved that many Sarawakians are aware of their legitimate rights.

“What belongs to Sarawak under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) must be returned to Sarawak,” he said.

Noting that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has agreed to fulfil (Sarawak’s rights under) MA63, Lue said Sarawak should take this golden opportunity with more aggressive and concrete actions to reinstate Sarawak’s rights that have been eroded.

“I will continue to care about and pay close attention to the welfare and rights of Sarawak,” he added. — DayakDaily
