Blikau was widely recognised for his more than 40-year tenure as the former assemblyman for the Katibas constituency, serving two terms from 1979 to 1987 and later an impressive seven consecutive terms from 1991 to 2021.

He first won the seat in 1979 but lost to Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak’s (PBDS) candidate Felix Bantin Jibom in the 1987 Sarawak Election.

In the subsequent Sarawak Election in 1991, Blikau reclaimed the seat by defeating Felix and continued to represent Katibas until the 2016 Sarawak Election.

He had also won the Katibas seat twice uncontested.

Blikau previously served in the Sarawak cabinet as Assistant Minister of Resource Planning from 1987 to 2000, Assistant Minister of Finance (2001 to 2006), and as Assistant Minister of Rural Development and Public Utilities (2006 to 2009).

Additionally, he held key roles within Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) as the secretary-general and PBB supreme council member.

He chose to retire from politics and did not seek re-election in the 2021 Sarawak Election.

In terms of his educational background, Blikau earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom.

Earlier this year, timber company Ta Ann Holdings Berhad announced retirement of Blikau as the Independent and Non Executive Director effective May 29, 2023. — DayakDaily
