Foreigner assaulted, robbed by four men claiming to be police

MIRI, Aug 21: Four men assaulted an Indonesian man and robbed him on Monday night (August 19) in Tudan Phase 2.

According to sources, prior to the incident the 29 year-old victim was walking alone, heading towards a shop to buy a pack of cigarettes when he was approached and cornered by the suspects who claimed to be policemen — two on a bicycle while the other two were on foot.

The encounter took placed around 11pm.

The victim claimed that the suspects had stopped him and demanded to see his working permit.

However, before the victim could show them the document, one of the suspects pulled out an object believed to be a gun and used it to hit the victim on the head, knocking him unconscious.

When he woke up the next morning around 7am, his two cellphones were missing, believed to have been stolen by the suspects during the incident.

A police report was lodged later that morning at Miri Central police station (CPS). — DayakDaily
