Foreign plantation worker slashes colleagues, four in hospital

SIBU, July 28: An Indonesian plantation worker has been arrested for allegedly attacking four of his countrymen with a machete today.

Bintangor district police chief, DSP Sekam Anoi said at about 12.10am this morning, his department received a call concerning four Indonesians who were warded at the emergency ward of Sibu Hospital with slash wounds on their hands and head.

“Our investigation reveals that the attack happened at a workers’ quarters of an oil palm plantation (in Bintangor),” he said.

DSP Sekam said a 46-year-old Indonesian was subsequently detained for the alleged offence.

The police also seized a 30-cm long machete believed to have been used for the attack.

“The motive of the attack is still unknown and we are still investigating the case,” he said.

The suspect he said had been remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

As for the victims, he said their condition is stable.—DayakDaily
