KUCHING, May 1: Apart from blood donation, Sarawak Federation of Chinese Association (SFCA) is taking the opportunity to give away food aid for the B40 blood donors.
Its president Dato Richard Wee said SFCA has prepared 120 packages of food aid consisting of daily essentials such as rice, cooking oil and others, for the members of public who are from that category.
“For those who come to donate today and qualified as B40, they will be given the food aid that we have prepared. This is not only to award them for their kindness but also to help them in this time of need,” Wee told DayakDaily.
The blood donation drive organised by SFCA at Dewan Masyarakat, Jalan Padungan from 8.30am to 3pm is a response of the association to the call made by the Red Crescent Society and Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank.
As of now, the event has received overwhelming support from SFCA members as well as members of the public.
“I am really glad that many have responded – both members of SFCA as well as the public. It is still a few hours away before this blood donation drive comes to a close.
“I call again, for those who have not yet done the donation, please do come now. We may not be able to stand side by side with the frontliners risking their lives to fight Covid-19, we can definitely donate our blood to support thems,” said Wee.
Also present at the event was Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng.
Meanwhile, according to Malaysian Red Crescent Sarawak Chapter director Chai King Sing, as of 3pm, 115 donors responded to the call and the event saw 103 pints of blood collected. — DayakDaily
